Robert's is bursting with a taste of everything as is its chef d'cuisine! Born and raised on a farm in France, Christian Arlaud's idea of grab-and-go cooking is a little different than what we mean by that term today. As soon as he could reach the stovetop around the age of 11, he realized he was drawn to cooking.

Inspired by his two cooking parents, Christian attend culinary school in Grenoble at the age of 16. Upon graduation, he trained in the south of France for a year and then lived abroad in Kuwait while working for Le Méridien, a hotel chain he would again work for once relocating to the states. Christian then opened his own restaurant situated between France and Italy in the stunning Alps. Preparing French cuisine, he lived and worked the ski resort life for five years before moving to Boston, then New York and California.

When Zeph, our Executive Chef, called with a job opportunity, Christian assumed he was referring to the town of Riverside, CA, only 20 miles from where he was living at the time. No stranger to big moves, however, Christian accepted the offer to relocate to Iowa in March of 2017, and we're so glad he did!
