Shift Manager - Security




This position manages security shifts to provide for a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, and company assets, supervises security staff on assigned shift, direct staff and assists in the handling of incidents and emergencies, summons police/fire agencies as needed, follows all gaming regulations, & oversees required drops.  

Essential Functions:

  • Provides exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Leads subordinates to provide exceptional guest service to internal/external guests.
  • Supervises security personnel during assigned shift.
  • Manages shift to provide for a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, and company assets.  
  • Directs staff and assists in the handling of incidents and emergencies.  
  • Summons police/fire agencies as needed.
  • Follows all gaming regulations.  
  • Ensures all necessary documentation is completed, from daily activity logs to incident reports.
  • Oversees required drops.  
  • Schedules employees and assigns tasks, staying within budgetary guidelines.
  • Schedules days off.
  • Approves payroll.
  • Coordinates and/or facilitates training.  
  • Conducts performance evaluations.
  • Coaches employees for improvement.
  • Administers discipline as needed.
  • Upholds company rules, gaming regulations, and laws.
  • Interviews and selects personnel as needed.
  • Develops personnel.
  • Motivates staff.
  • Special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Supervisor/Manager experience and/or strong leadership skills
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission license or ability to obtain.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Customer service experience.


Varies to include nights and weekends
