Summary:

Leads team of Systems Administrators in a technical hands-on role.  Contributes to systems, network, security engineering, and tier III operations support required to maintain company operations and competitiveness. Recognizes new developments in information technology and anticipates technical needs of the organizational. Works with management to establish strategic goals and manage infrastructure capacity demands.  Ensures confidentiality and reliability of corporate data, proprietary information, and intellectual property.  Functions as a Systems Engineering contact to assist the organization to determine technical project requirements and solutions.  Manages, coordinates, and mentoring of information technology staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads technology engineering projects and tier III operational support for a team of local and remote System Administrators.  Manages the engineering and operational support of systems, network, telecommunications, call managers, security, and overall technology projects. Establishes technical priorities related to new solutions and operational support.  Ensures sufficient systems capacities for organizational needs. Supervises employees, assigns and reviews projects to ensure goals are met. Works with other technology teams and prepares progress reports regarding projects and operational needs. Acts as a system(s) engineering and operational support interface with vendor and provides internal analysis and support.
  • Directly supervises System Administrators and analysts. Responsible for assessing/identifying the staffing needs of the Systems Engineering area and the hiring of staff. Accomplishes technology engineering staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, mentoring, and disciplining employees; conducting performance reviews;  initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Implements policies and procedures for all technology infrastructure throughout the organization.  
  • Oversees and contributes to technical administration of systems, network, security, and operations while leading technical staff within organization to develop, maintain, and improve technology infrastructure. Guarantees the performance, integrity, and reliability of technology infrastructure. Controls system capacities for existing requirements and plans for future needs.  Evaluates technology solutions and recommends use of new products and services to senior management.  
  • Supervises and administers security measures to restrict unauthorized use of systems and databases. Assists management in any security investigations and executes preventive measures. Supervises the installation and maintenance of the organization's systems, storage, and applications.  Leads the design, performance, and security of network LAN/WAN, telecommunication assets, and firewall systems. Leads and contributes to the overall success of the security training programs.
  • Manages the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of technology infrastructure; ensures equipment maintenance, licensing, and compliance expectations are met. Coordinates implementation efforts with other departments and users. Ensures project timelines and budgets are met. Works with technology staff to assess technology infrastructure capabilities and determine long-range needs.

Required:

  • A minimum six + years of work-related hands on skill, knowledge, subject matter expert in two or more technologies, and 10+ experience in business environment. 2+ years Technology Leadership/Management experience preferred.
  • Technology Infrastructure - Advanced knowledge and hands on experience of physical and virtual computer systems including application software, networking equipment, firewall systems, and call manager systems
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing exceptional customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Telecommunications — Advanced knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems.
  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Education and Training — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.
  • Must be able to secure the appropriate Iowa Racing and Gaming license
