Little Ed & the Blues Imperials
Riverside Casino Show Lounge
Friday March 23rd
Starting time will be 8:00pm
They blow down the walls. Dim the lights, turn up the stereo, and let the house party begin” —Guitar Player
“The world’s #1 houserocking blues band” —The Boston Globe
“Lil’ Ed And The Blues Imperials throw down old-style house-rocking shuffles, duck-walking struts and stomping rhythms as if marching down the tabletops at an all-night club…fearsome” —The Chicago Tribune
From smoking slide guitar boogies to raw-boned Chicago shuffles to the deepest slow blues, guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Lil' Ed Williams is an awe-inspiring master bluesman. He and his blistering, road-tested band, The Blues Imperials—guitarist Mike Garrett, bassist James "Pookie" Young, drummer Kelly Littleton—are celebrating 20 amazing years together. Live, Lil' Ed And The Blues Imperials simply can't be beat as Ed breaks out the deepest back-bends, the highest toe-walks, and the most authentic electric slide-guitar blues being played today. Not since the heyday of Hound Dog Taylor & The HouseRockers has a Chicago blues band made such a consistently joyous, rollicking noise. Find out for yourself what all the chatter is about at Riverside Casino’s show lounge stage.

Janiva Magness
Riverside Casino Show Lounge
Friday March 23rd.
Starting time will be 9:30pm
When it comes to female blues artists these days, Janiva Magness has been moving to the front of the class. You can talk about her being named the Blues Foundation’s Blues Music Awards, B.B. King Entertainer of the Year in 2009 and Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year in 2006, 2007, and 2009. You can talk about the incredible reviews and buzz she’s been getting in the blues press, or talk about her 8th and latest album “The Devil Is An Angel Too” (Alligator, 4/2010). But if you haven’t seen her live, you won’t understand the entire allure of Janiva Magness. Comparisons to the singing styles of performers such as Irma Thomas, Marcia Ball, Susan Tedeschi, even Janis Joplin are inevitable. Her warm throaty tones and inflections coupled with her sultry style and stage presence really bring blues to a new level. Add her backing band of Zach Zunis on guitar, Jim Alfredson on keys, Gary Davenport on bass, and Matt Tecu on drums, not only can they stand on their own against any funk, boogie, or blues band touring right now, but together with Magness they completely work the music." Come see for yourself at Riverside Casino’s show lounge stage.
Must be 21 or older to attend.
