    Grand Funk Railroad

    November 22, 2008 - 8pm

Grand Funk Railroad laid the groundwork for such bands as Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi with its signature hard-driving sound, soulful vocals, muscular instrumentation and forceful pop melodies. The fact that Grand Funk’s legacy still reigns over the Classic Rock landscape more than thirty-five years after its birth in Flint, Michigan, is a testament to the group’s influence and staying power. Mega hits, “We’re An American Band”, “I’m Your Captain/Closer To Home”, “Locomotion” and “Some Kind of Wonderful” still receive continuous airplay on Classic Rock radio.

Internationally acclaimed Grand Funk has toured the world, selling out in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan and South America. A 1971 performance at New York’s Shea Stadium sold out faster than the Beatles. The group’s widespread appeal is also evident in its prestigious recording achievements. Over their career, Grand Funk Railroad has had 19 charted singles, eight Top 40 hits and two Number One singles. The group has 13 Gold and ten Platinum records with record sales in excess of 25 million copies sold worldwide.

    Charlie Daniels Band

    December 19, 2008 - 8pm

Celebrate the Christmas season at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort with a Christmas show from the Charlie Daniels Band!

Charlie Daniels is part Western and part Southern. His signature “bull rider” hat and belt buckle, his lifestyle on the Twin Pines Ranch, his love of horses, cowboy lore and the heroes of championship rodeo, Western movies, and Louis L’Amour novels, identify him as a Westerner. The son of a lumberjack and a Southerner by birth, his music - rock, country, bluegrass, blues, gospel – is quintessentially Southern. It hasn’t been so much a style of music, but more the values consistently reflected in several styles that has connected Charlie Daniels with millions of fans. For decades, he has steadfastly refused to label his music as anything other than “CDB music”.

In the summer of 1979, Daniels delivered “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which became a Platinum single, topped both country and pop charts, won a Grammy Award, became an international phenomenon, earned three Country Music Association trophies, became a cornerstone of the Urban Cowboy movie soundtrack and propelled Daniel’s Million Mile Reflections album to Triple Platinum sales levels. The album’s title was a reference to a milestone in The Charlie Daniels Band’s legendary coast to coast tours. Including two drummers, twin guitars, and a flamenco dancer, the CDB often toured more than 250 days a year and by this time had logged more than a million miles on the road. By 1981, the Charlie Daniels Band had twice been voted the Academy of Country Music’s Touring Band of the Year. Then, on January 19th, 2008, Charlie’s life long dream became a reality. He was inducted as a full-fledged member of the Grand Ole Opry.

When you hear a classic Charlie Daniels Band performance like “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” you hear music that knows no clear genre. Is it a folk tale? A southern boogie? A country fiddle tune? An electric rock anthem? The answer is, “yes” to all of that and more. And the same goes for “In America,” “Uneasy Rider,” “The South’s Gonna Do It,” “Long Haired Country Boy,” “Still in Saigon,” and the rest of a catalog that spans 50 years of record making and represents more than 20 million in sales.

Tickets are $50, $46, $42 or $38 plus tax and an online/phone ticketing fee (this fee is waived when tickets are purchased in the Gift Shop). ADA tickets are only available through the Gift Shop and not online. Tickets in the ADA section are for patrons in wheelchairs and one guest ONLY. If you are not confined to a wheelchair, RCGR reserves the right to move you to another section of equal value of the purchase price. Tickets are on sale in the Gift Shop and online.

Hotel packages are available by calling 877-677-3456. Packages are $275 and include a one night stay in a deluxe king or double queen room, two tickets to the show and two dinners at Robert's Buffet. There are a limited number of packages available.

Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.

Must be 21 or older to attend.

    America

    Friday, January 16, 2009 - 8pm

The world discovered America in 1972 when a nameless horse began its gallop across the international airwaves. If this sounds like some sort of fairy tale, it seemed like one for the young musicians who harmonized their way to the top of the charts on the strength of their signature song. "A Horse With No Name" made America a global household name, paving the way for an impressive string of hits following in its wake.

America's journey has found them exploring a wide variety of musical terrain. Their best-known tunes, which also include "I Need You," "Ventura Highway," "Don't Cross The River," "Tin Man," "Lonely People," and "Sister Golden Hair" were cornerstones of 70s Top 40 and FM rock radio. Yet beyond their impressive catalog of hits, listeners would discover there was always much more to America than surface perceptions.

America's albums--six certified gold and/or platinum, with their first greatest hits collection, History, hitting four-million in sales--displayed a fuller range of the group’s talents than did their singles. Their material encompassed an ambitious artistic swath; from effects-laden rockers to oddball medleys to soul-bearing ballads, America displayed a flawless blend of disparate genres and styles as wide-open as the great American plains.

From anonymous horses to fast-moving trains, America’s extraordinary four-decade musical legacy of consummately crafted pop/rock songs, trademark lush harmonies and evocative lyrical landscapes will never go out of style.

Tickets are $45 or $35 plus tax and an online/phone ticketing fee (this fee is waived when tickets are purchased in the Gift Shop).

    Eddie Money

    February 14, 2009 - 8pm

"Everything I do, I do it for you". Eddie Money says it at least once, every show. And he means it. This straight up rock and roll icon has been making music and delivering it to his fans since the mid 70's, and wouldn't have it any other way. With hits like "Two Tickets To Paradise", "Baby Hold On", "Walk On Water", "Think I'm In Love" and "Shakin", Eddie continues to be one of the hardest working men in rock and roll.

Performing a compact 150 or so shows every year, Eddie is always touring, somewhere. "My fans are the best, most loyal fans a guy could ask for. They keep coming back for more and I'm not gonna stop until they make me stop".

A student of legendary vocal coach Judy Davis and prodigy of manager Bill Graham, Money began belting out hit after hit. The early days of MTV and music videos launched Eddie Money into stardom. An accomplished musician, he sings, he writes, and plays the saxophone, harmonica and piano.

"Touring and writing is my life. It's who I am and what I do. And I don't see it changing any time in the near future,” Eddie says of his immediate future, "Hey, I get to get up every day and do what I love. Why change that?”
